Suicide Risk in Patients With Bipolar Disorder

NARSAD has an interesting interview with Jan A. Fawcett, M.D., professor of psychiatry at the University Of New Mexico School Of Medicine regarding assessing suicide risk in patients with bipolar disorder. Dr. Fawcett talks about the dangers associated with bipolar patients with mixed mood states, where the feelings of hopelessness and pain associated with depression co-exists with increased energy and impulsiveness, thus increasing the likelihood of a suicide attempt.
